How the Aging Process Works
The true "Fountain of Youth" involves understanding the aging process. The four hormonal systems that decline with age according to the journal, Science, 278 (1997) are:
Somatopause: occurs when men and women age because of a decrease in human growth hormone released by the pituitary gland, causing a decrease in the production of Insulin-Like Growth factor (IGF-1) by the liver and other organs.
Menopause: in women this occurs when follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) decreases, reducing the secretion of estrogen and progesterone .
Andropause: in men, this occurs when gonadotropin luteinizing hormone (LH) decreases, reducing secretion of testosterone.
Adrenopause: in both men and women, this condition occurs when DHEA production decreases as adrenocortical cells produce less DHEA.
There are eight critical hormones that decrease as we grow older, causing us to age rapidly. Our brain and neural systems contain enzymes and steroid precursors such as cholesterol that are converted into a variety of over 150 steroid and neurosteroid hormones, and scientists are still discovering new biochemical hormones that are created from the eight critical hormones. What we do know is that as we grow older, our organs shrink in size and produce fewer hormones, and this reduction in available hormones leads to a slow deterioration of all of our vital body systems. As the immune, reproductive, neurological, metabolic and circulatory systems decline we begin to look and feel old, and because of varying degrees of breakdown in the body's aging clock, some people age more rapidly than others.
Reversing the aging clock is a matter of diet, exercise and restoring these eight hormones to youthful levels. Even though hormone replacement therapy has been around for years, total replacement of all the deficient hormones is a new practice. Using this new practice, we have seen numerous people looking and feeling ten to twenty years younger within a few months. Finally, the medical establishment is beginning to realize the necessity of replacing all of the hormones at the same time in order to bring the body to a more optimal physiologic level.
The incredible results we obtained utilizing phytochemicals to liberate free testosterone and clear out unmetabolized "bad" estrogens led us to the pursuit of analyzing each of the critical hormones: DHEA, human growth factors including GHRH, IGF-1 and Hgh, cortisol, total testosterone and free testosterone, melatonin, pregnenolone, thyroid, progesterone and estrogen.
